WATER MILLS

In all the villages of Omaña Alta there were one or more water mills where the people of Omaña obtained flour by grinding rye, wheat or barley grain. The mills were family or communal, belonging to a civil society formed by the villagers, and the milling rights were administered on a daily or hourly basis and acquired by sale or inheritance.
