It is the closest village to the source of the river that gives its name to the whole region, the Oma\u00f1a, and is the starting point to access the mythical mountain of the area: El Tambar\u00f3n (signposted route of Las Fuentes del Oma\u00f1a).<\/p>\n

From Montrondo you can visit El Llao or El Chao (The Lake), a relic of the glacial eras at the foot of the crag of Los Dados and very close to the south-western summit of El Tambar\u00f3n. En los filandones se cuenta la leyenda del drag\u00f3n del Llao, remota morada de una serpiente descomunal que manten\u00eda aterrorizados a los feligreses del pueblo. El drag\u00f3n exig\u00eda a los vecinos que cada a\u00f1o por la fiesta de El Corpus le entregaran una doncella. La elecci\u00f3n de la joven se hac\u00eda por sorteo y en cierta ocasi\u00f3n le toc\u00f3 el turno a una familia poderosa que a base de dinero y coacciones logr\u00f3 sustituir a su hija por una moza de una casa muy pobre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

En v\u00edspera del Corpus, cuando la humilde muchacha\u00a0\u00a0 sub\u00eda al Llao, una hermosa y dulce anciana, para muchos la Virgen, entreg\u00e1ndole un rosario le advirti\u00f3: \u201cCuando la serpiente asome la cabeza fuera del agua, \u00e9chaselo sobre las fauces\u201d<\/em>. Y as\u00ed fue como al arrojarle el rosario \u201cla bicha muri\u00f3 entre horribles estertores, con la cruz atravesada en el tragadero\u201d<\/em> y desapareci\u00f3 en el fondo para siempre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
