From 2005, Murias de Paredes is part of the biosphere Reserve of the valleys of Oma\u00f1a and Luna, next to the municipalities of Sena and Barrios de Luna, Soto and Am\u00edo, Rielo and Valdesamario. UNESCO recognized the 86 population nuclei that form its botanical, zoool\u00f3gica and geological richness and the harmonious relationship between the population and the natural environment in centuries of human occupation.<\/p>\n

The biosphere Reserve of the valleys of Oma\u00f1a and Luna <\/strong>is one of the 7 biosphere reserves of the province of Le\u00f3n, and one of the 12 with which the Cantabrian Cordillera counts.<\/p>\n

It takes the name of the basins of the rivers Luna and Oma\u00f1a, and is formed by a succession of small and fertile valleys located in the mountainous foothills that unite the Cantabrian mountain range with the Montes de Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With a surface slightly higher than 81,000 hectares, throughout it is distributed a total of 86 localities, belonging to the 6 municipalities that make up the reserve: The neighborhoods of Luna (9 locations), Murias of Paredes (15), Rielo (37), Sena de Luna (8), Soto y Am\u00edo (12) and Valdesamario (5).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
